Interim Head of Finance, Audit & Risk (3‑month contract)

About the role

This interim position offers a senior finance professional the chance to lead the finance, audit and risk function of a well‑established commercial organisation in Chatham. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will provide strategic financial direction while remaining hands‑on with day‑to‑day operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead budgeting, forecasting and management accounting activities.
• Prepare statutory accounts and oversee financial reporting.
• Manage cash flow, working capital and commercial performance.
• Coordinate the external audit process and implement recommendations.
• Maintain and develop the corporate risk register.
• Support the Board and Audit & Risk Committee with high‑quality reporting.
• Ensure effective governance, compliance and internal controls.
• Monitor contractual, financial and operational risks and drive value‑for‑money initiatives.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification.
• Previous experience as a Head of Finance, Finance Director or equivalent senior finance leadership role.
• Strong background in financial management, governance and audit.
• Proven ability to work with Boards and Audit & Risk Committees.
• Commercial awareness and risk‑management capability.
