Interim Head of Finance

About the role

This interim position will support a recently acquired retail and distribution business during a transition period. Working part‑time (≈3 days per week) for an initial 3‑6 months, you will partner with the Group CFO and site MD to drive finance transformation and ensure stable, reliable reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a programme of finance improvement and transformation projects, enhancing the quality and reliability of financial information.
• Modernise financial systems and processes to enable integration with the parent group’s reporting framework.
• Strengthen monthly management accounts and reporting used by the leadership team.
• Oversee international tax, VAT and import duties across the UK, EU, US and AU markets.
• Support the existing finance team during the handover, providing guidance without taking over day‑to‑day operations.
• Document project outcomes and prepare a clean hand‑over for the incoming permanent Head of Finance.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified with experience at a senior finance leadership level.
• Proven interim experience, able to start at short notice and add value quickly.
• Track record of delivering finance systems and process‑improvement projects, preferably in e‑commerce or direct‑to‑consumer businesses.
• Hands‑on experience working in a small finance team and comfortable with a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong commercial and analytical thinking and clear communication with non‑finance colleagues.

Required skills

• Finance and accounting systems such as Sage or similar.
• Automation of finance processes.
• Knowledge of global tax regulations (EU, US, AU) – advantage.
