Interim Health & Safety Advisor (3‑month rolling contract)

About the role

This interim position supports a public sector organisation in Hampshire with its health and safety compliance and audit programme on a 3‑month rolling contract. You will work closely with managers and operational teams to ensure legislation, policies and best practice are consistently applied.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct health and safety compliance audits across multiple sites and services.
• Identify non‑compliance issues and support the implementation of corrective actions.
• Maintain and manage health and safety databases, records and management information systems.
• Produce audit reports, compliance data and performance metrics for senior stakeholders.
• Review risk assessments, safe systems of work and related documentation.
• Investigate incidents and monitor accident and near‑miss trends.
• Provide practical health and safety advice to managers and employees.
• Support policy development and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Health & Safety Advisor.
• Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation.
• Experience conducting compliance audits and inspections.
• Ability to manage databases and produce detailed reports.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Strong organisational abilities with capacity to handle multiple priorities.
• NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
• IOSH membership (desirable).
• Experience in a public‑sector environment such as local authority, housing, education or healthcare is advantageous.
