Interim HR Manager

About the role

This interim role offers an experienced HR generalist the chance to lead the HR function for a small, diverse workforce covering production, technical and operational areas. You will work independently, providing practical HR advice and support to senior leaders and line managers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full employee life‑cycle, from recruitment and onboarding to probation reviews and workforce planning.
• Act as the sole HR point of contact, handling employee relations matters such as absence, performance, disciplinary and grievance processes.
• Ensure HR policies, procedures and training remain compliant with UK employment legislation and best practice.
• Oversee payroll administration, attendance, sickness, holidays, KPIs, occupational health requirements and broader compliance activities.
• Provide hands‑on operational and office support, coordinating employee queries, suppliers, meetings, communications and company events.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a broad HR generalist role.
• Confidence operating as the sole HR lead within a business.
• Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
• Experience handling employee relations, including absence, performance, disciplinary and grievance matters.
• Excellent organisational skills with high attention to detail.
• Ability to build trusted relationships at all levels of the organisation.
• Pragmatic, solutions‑focused and hands‑on approach.
