Interim Insurance Manager – £500/day, 4‑Month Contract (Hybrid/Remote)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Interim Insurance Manager to join a busy Local Government organisation on an initial 4‑month contract, with the potential for extension. The role is primarily hybrid/remote, with occasional office visits to collect IT equipment and attend meetings.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the organisation's insurance function within a fast‑paced environment.
• Provide managerial and supervisory oversight to the insurance team.
• Support procurement and insurance‑related activities, ensuring compliance with Local Government regulations.
• Participate in the evaluation of insurance tenders and procurement exercises.
• Manage insurance placements and renewals, working closely with brokers and insurers.
• Deliver excellent customer service to internal stakeholders and external partners.
• Provide strategic insurance advice and support across the organisation.

Required profile

• Strong insurance management experience, ideally within Local Government or the public sector.
• Experience of insurance procurement and tender evaluation processes.
• Proven managerial and supervisory experience.
• Strong underwriting knowledge, particularly around insurance placements, programme design, and procurement activities.
• Ability to work effectively in a busy, fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent stakeholder management and customer service skills.
