Interim Maintenance Manager (2-3 months) – £42.5K pro rata

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to join a busy educational site on a 2‑3 month interim basis. You will lead a small in‑house maintenance team, ensure safe and efficient operation of buildings, plant and facilities, and report to the Head of Facilities & Estates.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee planned and reactive maintenance across the campus.
• Manage external contractors and monitor compliance records.
• Support budget management and supplier relationships.
• Develop and maintain maintenance procedures and standards.
• Lead a team of three maintenance engineers.
• Ensure the estate remains safe, compliant and fit for purpose.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Maintenance, Facilities, Estates or Building Services Manager.
• Strong knowledge of building systems, health & safety and regulatory compliance.
• Experience leading maintenance or engineering teams.
• Budget and supplier management experience.
• Good IT skills, preferably with CAFM systems.
• Relevant certifications such as IOSH Managing Safely, NEBOSH, Legionella Awareness, Emergency Lighting, Asbestos Awareness and First Aid.
• Experience in schools, colleges or multi‑building environments is advantageous.
• Ability to pass enhanced DBS and safeguarding checks.
