Interim Membership & Education Director

About the role

This six‑month interim position leads the Membership and Education functions of a leading international professional membership organisation. Reporting directly to the CEO and sitting on the Senior Leadership Team, you will shape strategy, drive growth and ensure operational excellence during a period of transformation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for all Membership and Education activities.
• Lead and develop managers and multidisciplinary teams across the UK and internationally.
• Drive membership growth, retention and engagement across all grades.
• Support regional and international member communities and strengthen partnerships with professional bodies, employers and higher‑education institutions.
• Implement new membership pathways, professional development programmes and international growth initiatives.
• Manage departmental budgets, forecasting and performance reporting.
• Champion data governance, compliance and continuous improvement in membership operations.
• Represent the organisation at meetings, conferences and external forums.

Required profile

• Significant senior leadership experience in a membership, professional institution, licensing or regulatory environment.
• Proven ability to lead teams and deliver organisational objectives through others.
• Deep knowledge of membership recruitment, retention and progression pathways.
• Experience working with committees, volunteer networks and international stakeholders.
• Strong commercial acumen with budgetary and financial management expertise.
