Interim Procurement Manager - Generalist

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Interim Procurement Manager to support a busy public‑sector procurement function in the South East of England. The role will involve managing a diverse portfolio of procurement projects, from £100k contracts to multi‑million‑pound deals, on a temporary basis.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end procurement processes, from planning and strategy through to contract award and mobilisation.
• Deliver tender exercises, framework competitions and call‑off contracts across multiple service areas.
• Provide commercial and procurement advice to internal stakeholders and ensure compliance with public procurement legislation and internal governance.
• Develop procurement strategies that maximise value for money and manage risk.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with stakeholders, supporting them throughout the procurement lifecycle.
• Manage multiple procurement projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
• Support contract and supplier management activities as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering end‑to‑end public sector procurement exercises.
• Strong understanding of procurement legislation, frameworks and tendering processes.
• Experience managing procurements ranging from £100k to several million pounds.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing abilities.
• Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
• Organised, resilient and able to handle a fast‑paced workload.
• CIPS qualification or equivalent experience desirable.
