Interim Waste Manager

About the role

This six‑month interim position provides expert technical leadership for Cornwall’s waste management functions. Reporting to the Head of Waste, you will oversee contract delivery, infrastructure oversight, and strategic projects that support the county’s Waste & Resources Strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Lead critical workstreams related to waste contract management and performance monitoring.
• Provide technical oversight of waste treatment and disposal infrastructure.
• Drive delivery of projects aligned with the Waste & Resources Strategy.
• Collaborate with senior leaders, contractors, elected members and partner organisations.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in waste management or related environmental sectors.
• Strong understanding of contract administration and project delivery.
• Ability to work with senior stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
