Internal Auditor – Hybrid – £45k

About the role

We are seeking an Internal Auditor to join a specialist automotive finance business in Slough. The role is hybrid and offers a fixed salary of £45k, with full training for candidates transitioning into internal audit.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, scope and deliver internal audit assignments from start to finish.
• Assess the effectiveness of internal controls and identify improvement opportunities.
• Produce clear audit reports for senior management.
• Recommend enhancements to business processes, controls and operational effectiveness.
• Maintain audit documentation and support monitoring of audit KPIs.
• Track and follow up agreed audit actions with stakeholders.
• Maintain the internal audit management system, keeping audits and actions up to date.
• Build strong relationships across the business and with senior management.
• Support development of the annual audit plan and risk assessment process.
• Assist in preparing management reports and committee papers.
• Provide support on ad‑hoc projects as required.

Required profile

• Previous internal audit experience in banking, financial services or a regulated environment, OR experience in automotive finance looking to move into internal audit (training provided).
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Confidence to challenge processes constructively.
• Professional, objective and proactive approach.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
