Internal Auditor

About the role

The Internal Auditor will join the Finance team at DfT Operator Ltd, supporting the audit of multiple Train Operating Companies. Working across operational and compliance areas, you will help ensure robust internal controls, risk mitigation and value‑add improvements for the rail network.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute detailed audits of departments, processes and compliance functions for assigned TOCs.
• Develop and apply the TOC Assurance Framework and core audit procedures.
• Use audit techniques such as risk assessments, control testing and data analysis to evaluate controls.
• Gather and analyse documentation, identify weaknesses and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare clear audit reports that communicate findings, conclusions and recommendations to senior leadership.
• Build strong relationships with operational teams to promote a culture of continuous improvement.
• Support assurance activities for major business projects in line with agreed plans.
