Internal Auditor

About the role

Positive Employment is recruiting an Internal Auditor for a local government client in Kensington, London. The role involves delivering independent internal audit assignments across partner organisations to strengthen governance, risk management and internal controls.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and prepare audit assignments, including background research and audit briefs.
• Conduct interviews with managers and staff to evaluate systems, controls and processes.
• Develop and execute audit testing strategies, determine sample sizes and scope.
• Analyse findings, identify improvement opportunities and present recommendations.
• Produce clear audit reports supported by working papers and evidence.
• Maintain secure audit documentation in line with professional standards.
• Provide advice on governance, value for money, financial regulations and internal controls.
• Collaborate with the Internal Audit team and mentor apprentices where appropriate.

Required profile

• Experience conducting system audits across a range of services.
• Ability to deliver high‑quality audit reports and practical recommendations.
• Strong understanding of governance, risk management and internal control frameworks.
• Up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant legislation and professional standards.
