International Tax Manager – Belfast

About the role

We are looking for an International Tax Manager to join the Finance team at our Belfast office. You will work within the Partners' Affairs and Tax (PAT) team, supporting the Head of International Tax in overseeing the global tax affairs of the A&O Shearman group. The role involves a mix of compliance, advisory and risk‑management activities across the firm’s worldwide offices.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a detailed understanding of tax systems in the territories where the firm operates.
• Manage tax compliance, coordinating advisors and internal teams to support local CFOs with filings for the firm and its partners.
• Handle information requests from partners, offices and advisors to meet tax deadlines.
• Prepare year‑end non‑UK calculations, tax equalisation figures and fiscal account notes.
• Provide real‑time oversight of partners’ non‑UK tax balances and ensure timely adjustments.
• Review ad‑hoc tax filings in non‑firm territories and advise on potential exposures.
• Calculate UK Double Taxation Relief for UK‑resident partners and manage withholding tax exposures.
• Answer internal and external tax queries promptly and deliver mobility‑related tax advice.
• Continuously review and improve existing processes, including the use of AI where appropriate.
• Supervise junior team members in London and Belfast.

• Strong analytical mindset and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage tight deadlines effectively.
• Relevant accounting or tax qualification.
