Inventory Analyst - Stores & Purchasing

About the role

The Inventory Analyst will drive inventory accuracy, visibility and optimisation across Motion Applied, supporting both Stores and Purchasing functions. You will analyse stock data, identify discrepancies and risks, and deliver insights that improve material control and supply‑chain performance.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and report inventory accuracy, discrepancies and trends across all stock locations.
• Lead root‑cause analysis of stock variances and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain integrity of inventory data within ERP/MRP systems.
• Design and support risk‑based cycle‑count programmes.
• Collaborate with Stores Team Lead and Stock Controllers to improve processes and discipline.
• Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies, ensuring FIFO and traceability.
• Provide accurate stock and usage data to support purchasing decisions and order planning.
• Highlight shortages, excess and slow‑moving inventory to drive proactive actions.
• Support optimisation of order quantities (MOQ/EOQ) and safety‑stock levels.
• Develop and deliver reports on stock accuracy, inventory value, shortages and ageing.

Required profile

• Experience in inventory, supply‑chain or data‑analysis role.
• Strong analytical capability with Excel and ERP proficiency.
• Understanding of stock‑control principles such as FIFO, traceability and cycle counting.
• Manufacturing experience is desirable.
