Inventory Officer

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, conscientious and self‑motivated Inventory Officer to join our Inventory Management team at North Tyneside General Hospital. You will provide a dedicated inventory service for the theatres, ensuring that both medical and non‑medical supplies are available when needed.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain adequate stock levels on wards, departments and theatre stores by counting, ordering and putting away products using a barcode reader.
• Review stock usage reports and liaise with Theatre Managers to agree on optimal stock quantities.
• Provide cover for hospital stores, receiving goods, checking quantity and quality, and entering orders into the Trust Ordering System.
• Complete necessary documentation for all inventory transactions.

Required profile

• Experience of stock replenishment or working in a stores environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a customer‑facing, helpful and flexible attitude.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, meeting deadlines and communicating with staff at all levels.
• Willingness to travel between the Trust’s four main hospital sites; a driver’s licence is beneficial.

Required skills

• Proficiency with barcode scanning equipment.
• Computer literacy and experience entering data into computerized systems.
