Investment Banking Analyst – Mining & Metals

About the role

The Mining & Metals Investment Banking team at National Bank of Canada Capital Markets is looking for an Analyst to support deal execution and origination in London. You will work on complex advisory and financing mandates, gaining exposure to the mining and metals sector while developing specialist expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate corporate clients' financial needs, build complex financial models and perform valuation analysis.
• Support transaction structuring and execute advisory and financing mandates with increasing responsibility.
• Prepare presentation materials, marketing decks, prospectuses and investor presentations.
• Conduct company and industry research, including sector-specific analysis for mining and metals.
• Assist senior team members in deal execution, client coverage and documentation preparation.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of experience in investment banking, transaction advisory, equity research, capital markets or related fields.
• Undergraduate or graduate degree in finance, accounting, economics, engineering or a related discipline with strong academic performance.
• Interest or knowledge of the mining & metals or natural resources sectors.
• Demonstrated problem‑solving mindset, collaborative approach and strong team spirit.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
• Experience with financial modelling and dynamic model development.
• Familiarity with Bloomberg and Capital IQ platforms (preferred).
