IT Category Manager – Strategic Procurement

About the role

We are seeking an experienced IT Category Manager to own a multi‑million‑pound technology portfolio. You will shape procurement strategy across software, hardware, cloud, telecoms, cybersecurity and digital transformation initiatives, delivering commercial value and risk mitigation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement category strategies aligned with organisational technology roadmaps.
• Lead end‑to‑end strategic sourcing, including market analysis, tendering, negotiation and contract award.
• Manage complex IT procurement projects and deliver measurable cost savings and value creation.
• Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders to translate business needs into procurement solutions.
• Conduct spend analysis, market intelligence, supplier benchmarking and risk assessments.
• Negotiate licences, SaaS arrangements, service contracts and framework agreements.
• Oversee supplier relationship management and drive consolidation and standardisation of services.

Required profile

• Significant experience managing IT, digital or telecom categories in a complex organisation.
• Proven track record of developing and executing category strategies.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to influence senior decision‑makers.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
