IT Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer to join Southern Lights' internal technology team in Chippenham. This hands‑on role will support and develop a modern infrastructure across on‑premise and cloud platforms, acting as the senior technical escalation point for complex issues.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 3rd line technical support across infrastructure, servers, networking and end‑user technologies.
• Act as the senior escalation point for complex technical incidents and problems.
• Support and maintain Microsoft server environments and virtual infrastructure.
• Administer cloud services within AWS.
• Maintain Active Directory, Microsoft 365 and core identity services.
• Support wired and wireless network infrastructure.
• Investigate recurring technical issues and implement permanent solutions.
• Contribute to infrastructure upgrades, migrations and business change projects.
• Ensure changes are completed in line with ITIL best practice.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and asset records.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders and external technology partners.
• Mentor junior members of the IT team where required.
• Participate in an on‑call rota.

• Enjoys solving technical problems and takes ownership of issues.
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a collaborative IT team.
• Strong communication skills with a proactive approach.
• Ability to prioritise a varied workload.
