IT Support Engineer – 8-month contract – Fareham

About the role

We are seeking a proactive, customer‑focused IT Support Engineer to join a dynamic IT team in Fareham. This 8‑month contract role provides 2nd Line support within a modern Microsoft environment, handling technical incidents, supporting business‑critical applications, and helping maintain a secure and reliable infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver 2nd Line technical support to end users, meeting agreed SLA targets.
• Administer Microsoft 365 services, including user management, licensing, and troubleshooting.
• Manage Active Directory accounts – handling joiners, movers, leavers, group permissions and password resets.
• Support and maintain Windows 10 and Windows 11 desktop environments.
• Provide application support for both third‑party and internally developed business applications.
• Deploy, patch and maintain applications on Windows servers to ensure security and compliance.
• Investigate incidents, perform root‑cause analysis and implement long‑term solutions.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering 2nd Line IT support in a Microsoft‑centric environment.
• Strong background in Microsoft 365 administration and support.
• Solid knowledge of Active Directory user and group management.
• Experience with Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems.
• Understanding of the Microsoft End User Computing (EUC) stack.
• Ability to troubleshoot business applications and perform application patching.
