IT Support Engineer (AV) – Cambridge

About the role

This hands‑on IT Support Engineer role combines everyday desktop support with responsibility for audio‑visual (AV) solutions across a Cambridge‑based organisation. You will ensure a smooth technology experience for all employees, from troubleshooting hardware and software issues to maintaining high‑quality video‑conferencing equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1st and 2nd line IT support, diagnosing hardware, software and connectivity problems.
• Maintain and troubleshoot meeting‑room and collaboration technologies, including displays, cameras, microphones, speakers and room systems.
• Prepare devices, user accounts and core systems for new starters.
• Support collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom or similar.
• Assist with security processes, access management and incident response.
• Work with the IT Manager and external suppliers to improve IT and AV services.
• Participate in technology refresh cycles, upgrades and wider infrastructure projects.

Required profile

• Previous experience in an IT Support or Desktop Support role.
• Strong hands‑on experience supporting AV technologies in a business environment.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot meeting‑room and video‑conferencing solutions.
• Good understanding of Windows environments.
• Comfortable supporting both technical and non‑technical users.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
