IT Support Manager – £41,000 – Reading

About the role

We are seeking an IT Support Manager for a leading Education Managed Service Provider in Reading. You will lead a team of skilled engineers, ensuring high‑quality service delivery to a diverse client base while managing day‑to‑day IT operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of IT support engineers.
• Oversee service‑desk operations, manage ticket queues and meet SLA targets.
• Resolve technical issues on desktops, laptops, mobile devices and peripherals.
• Troubleshoot network problems including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS and VPN configurations.
• Administer user accounts, permissions and Group Policy via Active Directory.
• Perform basic server administration – file sharing, security management and access control.
• Support and maintain Microsoft 365/Office 365 environments.
• Work with virtualization platforms such as VMware, ESXi, Hyper‑V and vSphere.
• Implement and oversee backup and disaster‑recovery solutions.
• Communicate technical information clearly to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Visit client sites for onboarding and to resolve critical issues.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading an IT support team.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non‑technical users.
• Full UK driver’s licence and access to a car (essential for site visits).

• Microsoft Azure and Office 365/Microsoft 365 administration.

• Backup and disaster‑recovery – Veeam Backup & Replication.
• Network fundamentals – TCP/IP, DNS, WINS, DHCP, VPN.
