IT Systems Administrator (Azure)

About the role
We are seeking an experienced IT Systems Administrator to join our growing IT team in Bristol. The role focuses on the day‑to‑day operation, maintenance and continuous improvement of a modern Microsoft Azure‑based infrastructure, while supporting both internal users and client‑facing environments. You will work within a hybrid model, spending two days per week in the office.
Key responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Azure infrastructure, including virtual machines, networking, storage and backup services.
- Monitor health, availability and performance of Azure‑hosted services and respond to incidents and service requests.
- Manage Microsoft 365 administration, user accounts, identity management and SaaS applications.
- Support Azure networking, security controls, monitoring and operational governance.
- Provide 2nd‑line technical support for infrastructure, hardware and software issues.
- Assist with patch management, vulnerability remediation and security best practices.
- Configure and support cloud‑based services such as Azure DevOps, Business Central and SharePoint.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures and system configurations.
- Support IT infrastructure projects and contribute to service improvements and automation initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal teams and third‑party suppliers to ensure smooth delivery of IT services.
Required profile
- Proven experience administering Microsoft Azure environments in a commercial setting.
- Strong knowledge of Azure Virtual Machines, Virtual Networks, Storage Accounts and Azure Backup.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure Active Directory (Entra ID).
- Good understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls).
- Familiarity with monitoring, patching, backups and infrastructure security.
- Knowledge of ITIL principles and service management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience creating technical documentation and supporting operational processes.
- Azure certification (e.g., AZ‑104) is advantageous.
