IT Systems Administrator

About the role
The IT Systems Administrator joins the DT Infrastructure team at the U.S. Embassy in London. You will be responsible for administering mission‑critical IT systems, ensuring confidentiality, integrity and availability while delivering Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support across multiple channels.
Key responsibilities
- Administer and maintain network and enterprise applications, user accounts, device configurations and permissions; troubleshoot Tier 1/2 incidents.
- Use system‑administrator privileges, scripting and Group Policy to manage access to departmental networks, cloud platforms and voice communication systems.
- Install, configure, deploy and automate endpoint devices; provide dedicated IT support for VIP/VVIP visits.
- Manage infrastructure components including network, voice, cabling, wireless, satellite, radio and media distribution systems; maintain wiring in embassy facilities.
- Maintain accurate network diagrams, asset and circuit inventories, and operational procedures.
- Stay current on emerging technologies, cross‑train backups and document problems in the knowledge‑management system.
- Assist the ISSO with unclassified network patching, log auditing and user cybersecurity education.
- Execute project tasks under DT project managers and track milestones.
Required profile
- Proven experience in system administration and network infrastructure management.
- Ability to provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support across diverse platforms.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail in documentation.
- Willingness to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams and support high‑visibility events.
