IT Systems Administrator – Manage Microsoft 365 & Server Infrastructure

About the role

The Royal College of Music is seeking an IT Systems Administrator to join its IT Operations team. You will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the college’s Microsoft 365 environment and server infrastructure within virtualised settings, ensuring reliable services for staff and students.

Key responsibilities

• Administer Microsoft 365 services, including user provisioning, licensing and security policies.
• Manage physical and virtual servers, overseeing performance, capacity and updates.
• Implement and monitor backup solutions and disaster‑recovery procedures.
• Deploy and maintain endpoint protection and mail security suites.
• Handle network administration tasks such as switch configuration and Wi‑Fi management.
• Provide first‑line support and resolve incidents in line with service‑level agreements.
• Collaborate with the wider IT team to share knowledge and improve processes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing Microsoft 365 and server infrastructures.
• Strong understanding of virtual environments and related tooling.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
• Resilience under pressure and logical prioritisation of tasks.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
