IT Systems and Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

Join Checkatrade as an IT Systems and Infrastructure Engineer and help build the UK’s leading home‑improvement marketplace. You will own the hybrid cloud and on‑premise foundations, core platforms and automation that keep the business running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and evolve core platforms such as Okta, Google Workspace, AI tools, Jira Service Management and Slack.
• Build and maintain secure, reliable infrastructure across Windows Server, Active Directory, Office 365 and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).
• Develop automation scripts in PowerShell, Python or Bash and create workflow automations with Okta Workflow and Zapier.
• Apply an AI‑first mindset to replace manual effort with intelligent tooling.
• Deliver improvements through a structured project lifecycle and collaborate with security, platform and software engineering teams.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with Okta, Google Workspace and device‑management tools (Kandji, Intune) across macOS, Windows and ChromeOS.
• Proven management of Windows Server, Active Directory, Office 365 and strong expertise in Azure, AWS or Google Cloud.
• Day‑to‑day administration of Jira Service Management, including queues, SLAs and workflow automation.
• Scripting skills in PowerShell, Python or Bash and experience building automations with Okta Workflow or Zapier.
• AI‑first mentality, comfortable evaluating and deploying AI tools for IT problems.
• Experience delivering IT projects with a solid grasp of networking and security fundamentals (DNS, VPNs, firewalls) and clear communication skills.
