IT Technician – First & Second Line Support for Schools

About the role

AJ Chambers is representing an Essex‑based Schools Trust that needs two proactive, customer‑focused IT Technicians. You will provide first‑ and second‑line support to staff and students, ensuring reliable technology for teaching, learning, exams and school events.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver first‑ and second‑line IT support for staff and students.
• Install, configure and maintain PCs, laptops, tablets and other devices.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, Microsoft 365 and user account issues.
• Support classroom technology such as interactive displays, AV equipment and printers.
• Manage and prioritise help‑desk tickets, escalating complex cases when needed.
• Assist with device deployments, software installations and system updates.
• Provide IT support for exams, school events and day‑to‑day operations.
• Maintain secure, reliable IT systems and support educational platforms.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in an IT support role.
• Strong knowledge of Windows, Microsoft 365 and general hardware/software troubleshooting.
• Excellent communication and customer‑service skills.
• Ability to prioritise workloads and solve technical issues efficiently.
• GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent.
• Desirable: experience in a school or education environment and familiarity with systems such as Go4Schools, Senso or MIS platforms.
