IT Technician – Helpdesk (First‑line Support)

About the role

We are looking for a proactive, customer‑focused IT Technician to join our client’s team in Croydon. You will provide first‑line support, help maintain the IT infrastructure and assist with technology projects across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first‑line IT support via phone, email and the helpdesk system.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software and user issues, escalating when necessary.
• Manage helpdesk tickets, ensuring timely updates and resolutions.
• Support user onboarding and off‑boarding, including device setup, account creation and access management.
• Maintain IT asset registers, software licences and equipment inventories.
• Prepare, redeploy and manage IT equipment, keeping stock levels adequate.
• Liaise with third‑party suppliers and service providers.
• Monitor mobile device and router usage and perform routine system maintenance.
• Assist with IT projects and attend company sites as required.
• Contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives and provide general IT support.

Required profile

• Experience in a first‑line IT support or technician role.
• Strong problem‑solving and communication abilities.
• Customer‑focused attitude with excellent organisational skills.
• Ability to prioritise tasks and work both independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn and support ongoing improvements.

What we offer

• Hourly rate £18‑£20, with overtime paid at 1.5× the agreed rate.
• Initial 8‑week contract with potential extension or permanent placement.
• Fully onsite role in Croydon with occasional weekend work.
