Item Coding Team Lead

About the role

The Item Coding Team Lead oversees and manages all business‑as‑usual (BAU) and expansion activities for the coding team. As an inside trusted advisor for operations, the Lead continuously seeks ways to improve client outcomes through high‑quality data.

Key responsibilities

• Take full accountability for all Item Coding BAU processes and lead the team to meet objectives.
• Recruit, train, and develop team members, ensuring regular performance reviews and development plans.
• Own client change requests and manage expansion projects, maintaining the Fusion Dictionary database.
• Establish and enforce item coding governance and operational procedures.
• Collaborate with Data Production, Client Delivery, CPG, and Retail teams to troubleshoot issues.
• Communicate deadlines and issues to stakeholders and the Item Coding Manager.
• Mentor junior members, conduct knowledge‑share sessions, and support onboarding.
• Support the Item Coding Manager with strategic initiatives and team management.

Required profile

• Degree or associate’s degree.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Analytical, problem‑solving, and time‑management abilities.
• Attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment.
• 4+ years FMCG experience and proven leadership capabilities.

Required skills

• Advanced MS Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, worksheets).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
• SQL knowledge (preferred).
