Java Developer – AWS Migration (Hybrid, London/Leicester/Manchester)

About the role

We are looking for a Java Developer to join a major DWP programme focused on large‑scale application transformation and migration to AWS. The role is hybrid, with three days onsite initially and the remainder remote, and will involve close collaboration with IBM and client‑side teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and enhance Java‑based applications as part of a cloud migration programme.
• Refactor legacy applications for deployment on AWS.
• Collaborate with IBM, client stakeholders and wider programme teams.
• Contribute to technical design, implementation and code quality assurance.
• Support testing, performance optimisation and scalability of components.
• Work within Agile delivery teams to meet programme milestones.

Required profile

• Strong experience in Java development within enterprise environments.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS migration or cloud‑native development.
• Background in large‑scale programme or transformation projects.
• Eligibility for BPSS clearance (minimum 5 years UK residency).
• Effective stakeholder communication and teamwork skills.
