Java / Node.js Solutions Architect – Wembley

About the role

Our client, a diversified multinational organisation, is looking for a hands‑on Solutions Architect to lead the design and delivery of innovative e‑commerce and API‑centric platforms. Based in Wembley, you will work on‑site five days a week, collaborating closely with internal teams and external vendors.

Key responsibilities

• Produce high‑level and low‑level architectural designs for DTS, EPOS and related workstreams.
• Audit and govern vendor‑submitted code, enforcing a “Stable‑by‑Design” quality framework.
• Lead migration of legacy IBM iSeries (DB2/RPG) systems to containerised micro‑services using modern API middleware.
• Design and implement API management patterns, webhook integrations and event‑driven solutions with Kafka or Azure Event Hubs.
• Investigate and remediate recurring platform failures, latency issues and data inconsistencies.
• Maintain comprehensive architecture documentation in Confluence and visual models in Visio or LucidChart.

Required profile

• Proven experience in solution architecture for e‑commerce platforms or API/middleware ecosystems.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to critique vendor code and designs.
• Track record of delivering large‑scale legacy‑to‑cloud migration projects.
• Excellent communication and documentation discipline.
