Jigs and Tooling Design Engineer

About the role

SII UK is looking for a Jigs & Tooling Design Engineer to support a major aerospace programme. You will create high‑quality jigs, fixtures and tooling that enable safe, efficient manufacturing and assembly of complex aerospace systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop jigs, fixtures and tooling solutions for aerospace manufacturing and assembly.
• Produce detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings to company standards.
• Manage tooling through the full lifecycle: concept, design, manufacture and validation.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, production and engineering teams to ensure practical, efficient designs.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality and regulatory standards, including ergonomics and PUWER.
• Participate in design reviews, incorporate stakeholder feedback and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Degree (minimum 2:1) in Engineering – Aerospace, Manufacturing, Automotive, Robotics, Marine or related field.
• Experience using CAD software, preferably CATIA, with knowledge of SolidWorks or AutoCAD as a plus.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T and manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
• Problem‑solving mindset and ability to work in multi‑disciplinary teams.

• SAP (desirable)
• VBA, Python, C++ programming
• Knowledge of PUWER health & safety standards
• Understanding of composite and metallic structures
