Junior Quality Inspector (Materials Testing)

About the role

This is a graduate‑level position with a leading UK manufacturer of precision‑engineered polymer components. You will join a team that supports high‑tech sectors such as aerospace, defence, medical and semiconductor manufacturing, receiving full training from day one.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out materials testing on raw materials and finished products.
• Perform tensile, hardness, density, elongation and DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry) tests.
• Prepare laboratory test specimens and operate specialist testing equipment.
• Support calibration activities, maintain quality records and laboratory documentation.
• Assist with quality investigations and continuous improvement projects.

Required profile

• Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemistry, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Laboratory experience gained through industry placement, university work or previous technician role is beneficial.
• Enthusiastic about developing a career in quality within a specialist manufacturing environment.

Required skills

• Materials testing techniques (tensile, hardness, density, elongation, DSC).
• Operation of specialist laboratory equipment.
• Calibration and documentation of quality records.
• Basic data analysis and reporting of test results.
