Junior Sister – Urgent Care & Hotline (Band 6)

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Junior Sister (Band 6) to work across the Centre for Urgent Care (CUC) and the Royal Marsden Hotline at our Chelsea site. The role combines face‑to‑face urgent oncology care with 24/7 telephone support for patients experiencing treatment‑related complications.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise nursing shifts, ensuring effective multidisciplinary communication.
• Provide advanced nursing assessment and clinical decision‑making for acute oncology patients both in‑person and via telephone triage.
• Participate in the organisation and delivery of clinical trials, including patient recruitment, education, monitoring and liaison with sponsors.
• Maintain accountability for nursing care in line with the NMC Code of Conduct.
• Promote a safe clinical environment and contribute to infection‑control and quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Adhere to hospital policies and collaborate with other health‑care professionals to ensure high standards of care.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (NMC) with Band 6 experience in urgent or oncology care.
• Strong clinical judgement and diagnostic ability.
• Ability to manage patients both on the ward and through telephone consultations.
• Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement and multidisciplinary teamwork.
