Junior Software Engineer (Java / Kotlin / JVM)

About the role

We are looking for a Junior Software Engineer to join a digital product team within a leading global financial services organisation. The role focuses on building and maintaining modern, JVM‑based backend services that power customer‑facing digital products. You will work in a hybrid environment, collaborating with product, engineering and technology teams to deliver high‑quality, scalable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and improve backend services using Java, Kotlin and related JVM technologies.
• Participate in the full software delivery lifecycle, from design through testing, deployment and production support.
• Develop and integrate APIs for both customer‑facing and internal platforms.
• Contribute to greenfield and brownfield projects, ensuring clean, maintainable code.
• Engage in code reviews, technical discussions and system design sessions.
• Support live applications, monitoring performance, reliability and quality in production.

Required profile

• Several years of commercial software engineering experience, preferably in backend development.
• Strong interest in financial services, fintech or digital banking environments.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid setting and communicate technical concepts effectively.
