Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant

About the role
We are looking for a motivated and nurturing Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant to support Year 1 and Year 2 pupils in a Merseyside primary school. The role is full‑time during term time (08:30‑15:30, Monday‑Friday) and offers the chance to help children build confidence in foundational skills.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver small‑group interventions in phonics, literacy and numeracy.
- Assist the class teacher with resource preparation and classroom set‑up.
- Provide one‑to‑one support for pupils with additional needs.
- Work individually with pupils to improve reading fluency and comprehension.
- Help maintain a positive classroom environment using established behaviour strategies.
Required profile
- Minimum 6 months experience working with children in any setting (school, nursery, sports coaching, caregiving, etc.).
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain) and right to work in the UK.
- Clear, warm communication with children, staff and parents.
- Genuine interest in child development and commitment to a long‑term, full‑time role.
- Level 2 or 3 in Childcare/Teaching Support is advantageous but not essential.
