Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant – Interventions (Full‑Time)

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant to join a school in Knowsley, Merseyside. The role focuses on delivering targeted interventions in literacy and numeracy to help pupils close attainment gaps and prepare for SATs, while supporting the class teacher with day‑to‑day activities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead small‑group intervention sessions in English and Maths for pupils working below age‑related expectations.
• Provide booster sessions and practice papers for Year 6 SATs preparation.
• Deliver 1:1 academic support for pupils with SEN or those needing additional challenge.
• Analyse school data and teacher feedback to design bespoke catch‑up sessions.
• Promote a focused classroom environment that encourages independence and a growth mindset.
• Assist the class teacher with administrative tasks and resource preparation.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 months experience working with children, preferably in a KS2 setting or formal tutoring.
• Experience or strong understanding of leading small‑group learning.
• Confident communication skills for engaging older primary pupils and liaising with staff and parents.
• Good proficiency in English and Maths to support the KS2 curriculum.
