Kitchen Assistant – Bank

About the role

We are looking for a warm, enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant on a bank basis to join our award‑winning team at Elton House Care Home in Watford. You will support the catering function by preparing food and maintaining a clean, safe environment for residents and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of meals and beverages following safe food‑handling standards.
• Keep the kitchen area clean and hygienic to ensure high‑quality service.
• Monitor stock levels, advise on supply quality, and help with ordering replacements.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, following all reasonable work instructions promptly.
• Respect the dignity and individuality of residents and their visitors at all times.

Required profile

• Hold a valid Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and demonstrate high personal hygiene standards.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety, Moving and Handling techniques, Fire Safety and COSHH assessments.
• Ability to sustain physical effort and cope with a demanding workload.
• Positive, flexible attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
