Kitchen Assistant / Catering Cook

About the role

Join the dedicated catering team at Holsworthy C of E Primary School, supporting children and staff with nutritious meals in a vibrant school environment. This part‑time position offers the chance to develop practical kitchen skills while contributing to the wellbeing of young learners.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Catering Manager in delivering a high‑quality, hygienic catering service for the school boarding programme.
• Follow agreed shift patterns, cover sickness and support day‑to‑day kitchen operations.
• Prepare safe food in a clean environment, ensuring compliance with food‑hygiene standards.
• Produce breakfast, lunch, evening tea and packed lunches for trips or work experience.
• Maintain excellent customer service and foster positive relationships with staff and pupils.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic, caring and motivated individual with a genuine interest in working with children.
• Fluent spoken English with confidence in communication.
• Commitment to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
• Willingness to undergo a DBS check and provide satisfactory references.
