Kitchen Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a Kitchen Assistant to join Highgate Care at Springfield Manor in Stoke‑on‑Trent. The role supports the Cook in preparing nutritious meals for residents and contributes to a warm, dignified dining experience.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Cook with the preparation of varied, nutritious meals.
• Serve meals, respecting individual dietary requirements and resident preferences.
• Maintain compliance with HACCP, Health & Safety, COSHH and Environmental Health standards.
• Clean and tidy all kitchen areas following cleaning schedules.
• Ensure kitchen equipment is safe and report any faults promptly.
• Receive, unload, store and rotate stock to preserve freshness.
• Participate in team meetings and training sessions.

• Willing to attend staff and resident meetings.

Required skills

• Knowledge of HACCP, Health & Safety, COSHH and Environmental Health regulations.
• Experience with stock management and rotation.
• Ability to operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely.
