Kitchen Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a reliable Kitchen Assistant to join our catering team in an Extra Care setting. You will support food preparation, meal service and front‑of‑house duties while maintaining high standards of hygiene and resident care.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation, packed teas and serving meals to residents.
• Check resident food profiles for allergies, preferences and IDDSI ratings.
• Maintain cleanliness across the kitchen, storerooms and equipment areas.
• Support the Chef Manager with deliveries, stock rotation and removal of out‑of‑date items.
• Carry out health‑and‑safety and food‑hygiene checks in line with statutory regulations.
• Help prepare for inspections, audits and reporting requirements.
• Provide front‑of‑house service within the restaurant environment.
• Act up as Chef when required after completing induction and training.

Required profile

• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced kitchen and catering environment.
• Ability to engage positively with residents and team members.
• Reliability, attention to detail and commitment to food‑hygiene standards.

• £13.45 per hour plus benefits.
• Part‑time permanent role – 20 hours per week, Monday‑Friday 9:30 am‑1:30 pm.
