Kitchen Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Kitchen Assistant to join the college catering team. The role supports daily food production and service, working under the Head Chef and Sous Chef to maintain high standards of quality and hygiene.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and serving meals in line with college and legal standards.
• Receive, check and store deliveries as directed.
• Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen and equipment, following cleaning schedules and closing procedures.
• Package and label foods for various catering outlets while minimising waste.
• Operate and maintain the dishwasher and other kitchen equipment.
• Support front‑of‑house duties such as servery counter preparation and occasional delivery checks.

Required profile

• Some experience in a commercial kitchen (preferred).
• Willingness to obtain a Level 2 Food Safety Certificate.
• Good literacy, numeracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.

Required skills
