Kitchen Manager – School Catering (30 hrs/week)

About the role

The Harbour Schools Partnership is seeking a motivated Kitchen Manager to lead the catering service at Orchard Vale Community School. Working 30 hours per week across 39 weeks, you will be responsible for delivering fresh, healthy meals to pupils and staff while maintaining high standards of hygiene and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day kitchen operations and ensure meals are prepared to a high standard.
• Plan menus, order food and supplies, and manage inventory within budget.
• Maintain a clean, hygienic kitchen environment in line with food safety regulations.
• Lead, train and schedule the kitchen team, fostering a collaborative workplace.
• Promote healthy eating choices and encourage maximum participation from students.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing a kitchen or catering service, preferably in an educational setting.
• Ability to control budgets and manage procurement effectively.
• Strong organisational and leadership skills.
• Minimum NVQ Level 2 in Catering (Level 3 preferred).
• Enhanced DBS disclosure and right‑to‑work eligibility in the UK.
