Kitchen Porter

About the role

A Mercure hotel in Oxford, part of the Accor group, is looking for a full-time Kitchen Porter. The role keeps the kitchen and loading bay clean and tidy, supports the chefs and helps with deliveries, and is open to candidates who have the right to work in the UK.

Key responsibilities

• Keep all kitchens clean and tidy in line with Health & Hygiene regulations
• Count, sort and prepare operating equipment as required
• Handle chemicals and equipment according to manufacturer instructions
• Clean and store crockery, cutlery and glassware hygienically
• Follow cleaning rosters for deep cleaning of floors, walls, coolers and equipment
• Contribute to cost control through energy saving and careful use of water and cleaning materials
• Collect and dispose of kitchen waste correctly each shift, using safe methods for dry and wet waste
• Receive deliveries, tidy food items according to storage guidelines and help with loading bay duties
• Clean the workplace and the employees' dining room as instructed
• Complete all tasks to the standards set out in training and the departmental service procedures manual, and follow the Accor Employee Handbook

Required profile

• Right to work in the UK
• Physical stamina for standing long periods, lifting heavy items and working in hot, fast-paced environments
• Effective communication and teamwork to support chefs and kitchen staff
• Entry-level kitchen experience is beneficial

Required skills

• Operating and maintaining kitchen equipment and industrial dishwashers
• Basic food hygiene awareness and safe handling of ingredients
