KS3 Teacher – SEMH Setting (Full‑time, Temporary)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated KS3 Teacher to join a specialist school for boys aged 9‑16 with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. The school serves pupils who all have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and many also experience moderate learning and attachment difficulties.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver differentiated lessons that meet the interests, abilities and EHCP targets of each student.
• Use a range of engaging teaching strategies to promote academic progress and personal development.
• Monitor and assess pupil progress, recording outcomes in line with statutory requirements.
• Collaborate closely with classroom assistants to provide additional support and reinforce confidence and self‑esteem.
• Manage challenging behaviour using positive behaviour management techniques.
• Contribute to the development and review of individual EHCPs and related documentation.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive classroom environment.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Experience working with secondary‑age pupils in a SEMH or special‑needs setting.
• Understanding of EHCP processes and the ability to tailor learning to diverse needs.
• Strong commitment to fostering resilience, confidence and academic achievement.
