Lab Technician

About the role

We are looking for a reliable and motivated Laboratory Technician to join our team in Burton upon Trent. This position offers the chance to develop a career in a fast‑paced laboratory environment, supporting daily operations and ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, process and analyse samples according to laboratory procedures.
• Carry out routine laboratory testing and accurately record results.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and keep work areas clean and organised.
• Prepare reagents, solutions and other laboratory materials as required.
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures and health & safety guidelines.
• Document laboratory activities and test results.
• Assist with quality control activities and ensure compliance with laboratory standards.
• Report equipment issues, non‑conformities or safety concerns to management.

Required profile

• Previous laboratory experience is desirable.
• Qualification in a scientific discipline such as Biology, Chemistry, Biomedical Science or Laboratory Science is advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good organisational and time‑management skills.
• Ability to follow procedures and work independently.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Flexible approach to working hours and shift patterns.

What we offer

• Pay rate of £12.71 per hour
• 39‑hour work week
• Shift pattern with rota covering 6:00 am to 9:00 pm, Tuesday to Saturday
