Laboratory Analyst

About the role

Forensic Testing Service was founded in 2009 with the sole aim of helping improve the outcomes of childcare proceedings in the family court system. We are the first testing service in the UK to adopt a model of best practice that combines detailed forensic analysis with substance abuse test results. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Lab Analyst to join our team.

Key responsibilities

• Efficiently process samples for analytical testing using LC‑MS/MS and GC‑MS, following FTS procedures and ISO 17025 standards.
• Maintain and service laboratory equipment to ensure reliable operation.
• Process analytical data from LC‑MS/MS instrumentation and deliver accurate results to technical support and report‑writing teams.
• Enter data into a bespoke laboratory software system at the result stage of the analytical process.
• Maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment.

Required profile

• Degree level education in a scientific discipline or equivalent experience.
• Good Laboratory Practice and knowledge of ISO 17025 procedures.
• Excellent interpersonal and problem‑solving abilities.
• Proficiency with standard IT software such as Microsoft Office.
• Desirable: experience in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory and a background in chemistry, forensic science or toxicology.
