Laboratory Assistant – Walton-on-Thames

About the role

We are seeking a reliable Laboratory Assistant to join our client’s laboratory team in Walton‑on‑Thames. Working closely with the Chemist and supporting the Quality function, you will help keep the lab running smoothly while developing practical laboratory skills. Full training in chemical handling, safety and analytical equipment will be provided.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory equipment, glassware and chemical solutions for routine analysis.
• Assist in preparing plating solution samples and conduct routine measurements such as pH, conductivity and temperature.
• Support titration testing once trained and competent.
• Maintain, clean and organise laboratory equipment and work areas.
• Label, store and handle chemicals in line with COSHH assessments and SDS.
• Manage chemical stocks, receive deliveries and report shortages.
• Record results accurately, maintain calibration records and assist with audit documentation.
• Support scheduled tank maintenance, cleaning and solution changes.

Required profile

• GCSE (or equivalent) in English, Mathematics and Science.
• Basic knowledge of laboratory or manufacturing environments.
• Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and ability to follow written procedures.
• Good numerical ability and accurate record‑keeping.
• Health & Safety awareness, especially COSHH.
• Team player with reliable and punctual work ethic.
