Laboratory Sorting Technician (Night Shift)

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Laboratory Sorting Technician to join Cogent’s production team on a permanent night‑shift basis. The role involves assessing semen samples, preparing media, operating flow‑cytometry sorters and processing and freezing semen for downstream use.

Key responsibilities

• Comply with all CBL health‑and‑safety directives, SOPs and regulatory standards to ensure good laboratory practice.
• Operate autonomously across semen assessment, media preparation and flow‑cytometry sorting while following production planning.
• Maintain GxP compliance for flow cytometers, sorting area and media preparation workspaces.
• Perform in‑process controls during sorting and media preparation, reporting any deviations to the line manager.
• Manage workflow, instrument care and equipment maintenance.
• Collaborate with the laboratory team, sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues to maximise production.
• Undertake additional duties as required.

• High personal standards and accuracy with a methodical, organised approach.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn and understand laboratory and flow‑cytometry equipment.
