Laboratory Technician – Aggregate & Asphalt Testing

About the role

We are looking for a Laboratory Technician to support aggregate and asphalt testing at our Cragmill Quarry & Asphalt Plant in Northumberland. You will report directly to the Technical Manager and will use a company van to travel to customer sites as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out product compliance sampling and testing for aggregates and asphalt.
• Input and interpret test data and produce reports on non‑conforming material.
• Ensure corrective actions are taken and maintain accurate documentation.
• Liaise with customers, peers, laboratory and technical supervisors to resolve issues.
• Maintain awareness of site practices, quality procedures and general housekeeping.
• Adhere to company and site health & safety standards.

Required profile

• Good communication skills for stakeholder interaction.
• Awareness of site practices and quality procedures.
• Commitment to health, safety and environmental standards.
• Full driving licence (required to operate the company van).
• Previous laboratory experience in aggregates and asphalt testing is desirable but not essential – full training will be provided.
