Laboratory Technician

About the role

Our client, a leading soft drinks manufacturer, is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support the Laboratory Supervisor and the New Product Development (NPD) team. You will help maintain a well‑organised lab environment, ensure traceability of ingredients, and assist scientists in delivering new beverage products.

Key responsibilities

• Organise the laboratory, maintain labelling, stock, and equipment cleanliness.
• Perform daily calibrations of key equipment used for development work.
• Create and monitor cleaning and maintenance schedules for lab equipment.
• Liaise with contract companies, suppliers, and external labs to ensure proper cleaning, maintenance, and waste disposal.
• Maintain records of ingredients, processes, and procedures to ensure full product traceability.
• Write and review standard operating procedures and guidelines.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the NPD organisation.
• Produce samples (concentrates, emulsions, finished products) and validate batch records.
• Operate laboratory equipment required for product development projects.

Required profile

• Technical education or a BSc in a food‑related science (Food Technology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Agricultural Engineering).
• Demonstrated laboratory experience in a food or beverage setting is advantageous.
• Basic understanding of R&D processes and good laboratory practice.
• Ability to organise tasks and maintain accurate documentation.
